INSTRUCTOR

In July, Karen reminded the group of the imprecision of talking about God using a quote attributed to Barry Taylor, a road manager for AC/DC:

“God is the name of the blanket that we throw over the Mystery to give it shape.”

The subject of the lesson was the various ways that people have thought about the relationship that God with the world.  Theologians spend lots of time developing their theology.  We reviewed Deism, Supernatural Theism, Pantheism, Panentheism and Process Theology. Karen told us of a comment made by Marcus Borg, who said that, when his theology students said they didn't believe in God, described as a Supernatural Theistic God, and he said he didn't believe it that God either.  She also read an example of how Thomas Gates described applying the Process Theology to a decision he had to make.
